The Costa Blanca by Scooter: Eight Towns Compared

Which parts of this coast are flat, which climb, and where a scooter earns its keep.

The Costa Blanca is not one kind of place. Some of it is a level promenade you could ride for an hour. Some of it is a hill town with steps. This is what we have found delivering to all of it.

What actually makes a town easy

Two things decide whether a town works on a scooter, and neither is the town's reputation.

  • Is the seafront continuous? A promenade you can ride end to end without dropping onto a road is worth more than any view.
  • How far apart is everything? Spread-out places like the Orihuela Costa feel hard on foot and easy on a scooter. Compact old towns are the other way round.

Questions about the coast

Which town on the Costa Blanca is easiest on a scooter?

Albir, on the strength of its promenade: straight, level, sheltered and long enough to be worth riding. Torrevieja and Alicante are close behind, both flat along the water.

Which is the hardest?

Altea, if you want the old town. The seafront is as easy as anywhere on the coast, but the hill above it is steep and stepped. The Orihuela Costa is not hard so much as spread out, which is a different problem and one a scooter solves rather than suffers.

Can I ride between towns?

Some pairs are close enough: Altea and Albir sit next to each other. Others are a proper drive apart. With 80 to 100 km of range on the Tunder the battery is rarely the limit; the road between is.

Does the same price apply everywhere?

Yes. 80 euro a week for the Donata and 90 for the Tunder, wherever on the coast we deliver.
