What these are, and what they are not

These are three-wheel electric scooters: you sit astride a saddle, steer with handlebars, and the machine has mirrors, indicators and brake lights. They are not self-propelled wheelchairs, which are medical devices for people who have lost the ability to walk, and they are not the four-wheel pavement scooters some hire firms call a mobility scooter.

That distinction decides which traffic rules apply and whether a plate, insurance or a licence is needed. Each municipality along this coast sets its own local rules as well. We go through what applies where you are staying when we hand the scooter over.

How booking works

  1. Tell us your dates

Send your arrival and departure dates, where you are staying, and which of the two models you want.

  2. We confirm in writing

You get the price, the delivery window and the hire conditions by email. Nothing is agreed until you say yes.

  3. We deliver and show you

The driver sets the scooter up, explains the controls and the local rules, and gives you your copy of the contract.

Other equipment we hire

Alongside the two scooters we hire a small amount of other equipment.

Frequently asked questions

Which of the two should I take?

The Donata if you want the smaller, retro machine and you are staying in one place. The Tunder if you want more range, a wider stance and a bigger battery. The Tunder costs 10 euro a week more.

Can two of us ride together?

Both models have a long saddle. Whether a passenger is permitted depends on how many seats the vehicle is approved for, which is part of the same open question as the licence: This detail follows shortly.

What is included in the hire?

Delivery and collection, a charger, third party insurance and a number to ring if anything goes wrong. This detail follows shortly.

How long can I hire for?

By the week or by the month. Those are the two rates we publish and there is no daily rate. The month rate is the better deal from about three weeks onward.

What if it breaks down?

Ring us and we come out. On a monthly hire, a machine that cannot be fixed on the spot is replaced rather than left with you.
